Social Media and Animation Internships
The use of social media by animation studios and in other industries have been shown to be extremely successful. It has allowed large companies to connect with their audiences, potential clients, and prospective interns and employees. Many do so by promoting photos and short clips of the company's work environment, first-hand experiences of current employees, and insights on projects under development. By posting this content, their audience is able to get some insight on what type of company it is behind the scenes and drives more people to apply to these amazing opportunities. Some companies take a more informative approach to this type of profile. Often posting photos of upcoming webinars, networking or open applications.
Major companies will make separate social media account promoting jobs, internships, and other opportunities on their 'careers' profile. Two well known companies that successfully maintain this type of social media profile are Disney and Dreamworks Animation.
As seen on Disney's Careers Instagram page, the content they post aims to create an interpersonal connection with their followers. Bright colors, iconic mascots, and photos with employees and interns helps draw in their audience by leaving an impression of a friendly, fun, and exciting work environment. All while helping future interns learn skills to be successful in the industry and the necessary experience.
Similarly, the Dreamworks Career Instagram page also makes various posts on information about their internships, job opportunities, and work events attended by their employees. They frequently interact with their followers by hosting a weekly career tips live on their Instagram. As well as posting Q&A videos, lives, and interactive story posts. I follow their account as well and can attest that Dreamworks in particular, has always posted on culturally significant events and celebratory months like Hispanic Heritage moyn, AAPI Month, Juneteenth and many more. They do an amazing job in highlighting their POC interns and employees and their active efforts in creating a culturally diverse workplace.
As I've mentioned before, the use of social media with career company profiles like these can be extremely beneficial to companies and the general public alike. Companies are able to promote their brand, work environment, and opportunities. Individuals who are looking for specific job or internships can easily view and access this information at a glance from their social media profile. This is important today as more people look for jobs through social media and commercial ads.
